FishyGrits

Editorial interpretation

Who Holds the Wheel?

The central AI question is governance, not admission.

Black communities are not waiting to ‘enter’ technology; they have long built, repaired, repurposed, and governed tools. AI changes scale and speed, but the durable questions remain: whose knowledge trains the system, who can inspect it, who may refuse, and who receives the value it produces?

FishyGrits favors tools that preserve provenance, disclose uncertainty, respect consent, and keep meaningful decisions with people accountable to the community. The Algorithmic Justice League’s language of voice, choice, transparency, and agency offers a governance test. A machine may assist the archive; it cannot inherit the community’s authority.
